Indoor fan runs, but cooling is weak
We check the indoor and outdoor functions in relation to the complaint. The finding explains whether the issue involves a component, air delivery or another connected condition.
COMMERCIAL & INDUSTRIAL HVAC
A commercial split system depends on its indoor and outdoor equipment working together. Airplex provides split-system repair, maintenance and installation planning across NYC and Northern NJ for businesses facing cooling loss, heating problems or recurring faults.
For an active failure, call and describe the affected spaces. Scheduling and availability are confirmed for the request.
AT A GLANCE
A split system pairs indoor equipment with an outdoor unit. A complaint that seems to come from one side may involve airflow, controls or the connection between them. Airplex investigates the operating problem before recommending a repair or replacement, so a new outdoor unit is not treated as a universal fix.
UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM
The pattern helps define the investigation without guessing at a failed part.
We check the indoor and outdoor functions in relation to the complaint. The finding explains whether the issue involves a component, air delivery or another connected condition.
The fault history and conditions when it happens help guide diagnosis. A repeated restart may restore temporary operation without correcting the reason for the interruption.
Drainage and air-moving components need their own review. These symptoms do not by themselves establish a refrigerant problem.
YOUR SERVICE OPTIONS
Repair and replacement should preserve a suitable system match.
We define appropriate care for both indoor and outdoor equipment, including air paths, coils, drainage and operating checks. Repairing an active fault remains a separate task.
We compare the confirmed defect and repair support with the condition of the remaining system. You receive the proposed correction and any further concerns affecting the decision.
Review indoor/outdoor compatibility, controls, refrigerant connections and building demand. Replacing one unit is only appropriate when the resulting combination is supported.
A split system separates indoor and outdoor equipment, so a problem may not be located where occupants first notice it. In cooling operation, heat is collected indoors and rejected outdoors. The connecting refrigerant circuit, indoor airflow and controls all contribute to that result. The outdoor unit running is not proof that the occupied space receives the required cooling.
Describe the symptom rather than selecting a component in advance. Loss of airflow, cooling that declines after a period of operation and a system that never starts each give the investigation a different direction. The service finding should explain which part of the system was assessed and why the proposed repair fits.
A ducted split system serves spaces through a distribution network. If the system cools some rooms adequately while another remains uncomfortable, the air path, zoning or changed room use may need review. A larger outdoor unit is not automatically the solution to a local distribution concern.
For example, a newly enclosed office may have a different air-delivery need from the open area it replaced. Restoring the original equipment to good condition may still leave that room poorly served. A useful assessment distinguishes repair of the existing system from alterations needed for the new layout.
Replacing only the failed section may be possible, but the proposed combination must be suitable. The indoor equipment, outdoor equipment, refrigerant arrangement and controls need to work together. Similar nominal capacity or a cabinet that fits the same location is not sufficient evidence of compatibility.
Ask which components remain, what supports the proposed match and what related work is included. A complete-system replacement should be compared on the same basis, including installation, connections and commissioning. This makes the choice about the resulting system rather than a misleading comparison between one component price and an entire project.
A maintenance plan should account for both equipment locations and their installed components. Servicing only the easy-to-reach section leaves an incomplete condition picture. The report should separate routine tasks from findings that need a diagnostic visit or approved repair.
For recurring complaints, keep the work history together under one system identifier. Record whether the original symptom returned and under what conditions. That history helps determine whether a new event is a different defect, an incomplete correction or a change in how the building uses the system.
PLANNING THE WORK
The diagnosed fault, both equipment models, parts support and access affect repair cost. Replacement proposals should include the work needed to create a suitable connected system.
IN YOUR BUILDING
Airplex serves commercial split-system needs in NYC and Northern NJ. Indoor tenant access and outdoor roof or yard access may both be needed for a complete diagnosis.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Sometimes, but the replacement must be compatible with the retained indoor equipment and system requirements. Capacity or cabinet size alone does not establish a suitable match.
No. Split systems describe separated indoor and outdoor equipment and can include different air-distribution arrangements. The installed configuration determines the service path.
Not necessarily. Some systems primarily recirculate indoor air, while ventilation is supplied separately or through an installed arrangement. Ask how the building receives outdoor air before treating a split-system repair or replacement as a ventilation solution. Cooling capacity and ventilation duty should be described separately in the project.
They may retain different components or include different connecting work. Compare the indoor/outdoor equipment combination, controls, electrical and refrigerant connections, drainage, distribution changes and verification. Also check which surrounding repairs are excluded. Those differences often explain more than the equipment brand alone.
